Do I need to bring anything?

For beginner classes, just bring yourself. We provide tiles, racks, mats, and instructional materials. We even loan you the needed National Mah Jongg League Card. If a class or event requires anything additional, it will be noted in the description.

Do I need a National Mah Jongg League card?

Accepted Answer

For our Mah Jongg Foundations beginner classes, no. We’ll teach you how the card works and can help you purchase one when you’re ready (if you buy from us in person, you'll need to bring $15 cash). For all classes and events after the Foundations Class, a current card is required.

Can I come alone?

Absolutely. Many guests come on their own, and Clover Club is designed to feel welcoming and approachable. Come solo or bring friends, there’s always a seat at the table.

I learned years ago but feel rusty. Which class is right for me?

Accepted Answer

Honestly, unless you learned from an experienced instructor and know the current NMJL rules, I recommend starting with Foundations of Mah Jongg. If you are confident you remember how to play, Building Your Game is perfect for players who know/remember the basics but want guided practice and support before jumping back into regular play.

What if I’m late?

To ensure the best experience for everyone, we ask guests to arrive on time. Participants arriving 15 or more minutes after the scheduled Foundations of Mah Jongg class start time will be considered a no-show and will not be eligible for a refund or class credit.

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

Classes are refundable up to 72 hours before the scheduled start time. Within 72 hours, registrations are nonrefundable; however, you are welcome to transfer your seat to a friend.Open Tables, Guided Tables, Clover Connections, and Leagues are nonrefundable and nontransferable upon booking.

Is Clover Club accessible?

Clover Club is located on the lower level of the building and is accessible only by stairs. There is no elevator access. If that is a concerns for you, we would be happy to recommend a more accessible class option nearby.

What are Open Tables?

Open Tables are relaxed, social Mah Jongg sessions designed for practice and play. Think of them as a welcoming place to sharpen your skills, meet fellow players, and make Mah Jongg part of your routine. For Beginners, try our Guided Tables. There is an instructor focused on helping a small group of players real-time during their games. It is the perfect bridge between the Foundations class and Open Play.

What is Guided Tables?

For those who are new to Mah Jongg (and perhaps just finished our Foundations of Mah Jongg class) or just want to win more games, Guided Tables is perfect for assisted play. An instructor will guide you with rules reminders, discard selections, and hand selection while you play against other players in an open play setting.For those who have already learned the rules of the game and just need to gain confidence, Guided Tables is the perfect bridge between our Foundations of Mah Jongg Class and Open Play.

What is the Founding Circle?

The Founding Circle is a special membership for those who want to help establish and shape Clover Club. Members receive exclusive benefits, special pricing, and opportunities to be part of the community from the very beginning.You do not need to be an experienced player to join. Founding Circle members range from brand-new beginners to experienced players. If you love the idea of being part of Clover Club's beginning, you're welcome here.Is this a recurring membership?Yes. Membership is billed annually and remains active for one year from the date you join. You may cancel at any time to avoid being billed the following year.Can I join later?Yes, but Founding Circle membership is only available for a limited time during Clover Club's launch period and is limited to 50 members. Once enrollment closes, this membership will no longer be offered.How do the guest passes work?Each member receives four guest passes per year that may be used to bring friends or family members to Open Tables. Yes! Encore is our monthly plan for players who like to join us regularly. For $40/month, Encore includes up to 5 Open Tables bookings each billing period, which you can use whenever they fit your schedule. Enrollment is limited to help preserve Open Tables availability.
